WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Live Testimonies – Encouragements from those who have come to a saving faith in the Lord
Jesus as a result of reading a Gideon Bible or New Testament.
Bible Teaching – Our guest speaker this year is Peter Maiden an experienced Bible Preacher
who has been actively involved with many ministry organisations over the years including
Operation Mobilisation (OM) and Keswick Ministries.
Christian Music – Scottish based quartet The Gospel Heirs will share their faith through music
and song and there will also be opportunity for you to join in our congregational worship with both
modern and traditional hymns and songs.
Encouragement and Teaching – There will be many opportunities for you to find out what
has been happening through the ministry of GideonsUK during the last year as well as hearing
about new initiatives and help to be more effective in your own witnessing. Among other things
this year we will be looking at our work in schools and Lat Blaylock from NATRE who many of
you will have met at our schools training events will be with us, as will Simon Calvert from the
Christian Institute who will be speaking on Christianity Challenged as well as sharing his own
Gideon Testimony.
International Opportunities – You will be able to learn more about the new outreach
opportunities in partnership with ShareWord Global and hear experiences from those who have
already been involved with these. Our Monday morning session will include a special focus on
this.
Great Fellowship – Whether it’s over a meal table, around the hotel or on a Sunday afternoon
stroll around the lake, or for the more energetic in the hotel pool or gym, friendships are made
and refreshed.
Comfortable Accommodation – For the great price of just £259.56 per person for the 3
nights (£131.22 per child aged 3 – 16 and sharing a room with parents), you can enjoy all the
Convention has to offer in the relaxed atmosphere of The Hilton Birmingham Metropole’s 4*
facilities in an en-suite room, with continental breakfast (upgraded to full English on Monday
morning), two-course lunches and 3 course dinners as well as morning and afternoon tea and
coffee breaks! Ensuring full refreshment of body as well as soul.
Live nearby or can’t manage the whole weekend? – You can also book to join us for one
or more days at a cost of £88.98 per night (£43.74 per child) for accommodation and meals. If
you want to come as a day visitor, meals should be purchased through the Gideon website in
advance.
A great opportunity for families – Our young people’s work is free of charge up to the age
of 16 in groups appropriate to age. Leaders are all Christians, fully qualified and certified (an
essential for anyone willing to work with young people!) The meetings run concurrent with adult
sessions so you can relax in the safe knowledge that your young ones are enjoying Bible based
teaching and having fun together. On Saturday the older children will have a trip to Drayton
Manor Park and again all you need to ensure is that they have suitable clothing with them – a
packed lunch is provided as is the cost of transport and entrance fee.
Pack your bags and join us – Dress is generally whatever you feel comfortable in and would
wear to your own church. Whether your style is formal jacket and tie or casual jeans and t-shirt,
both are welcome, and so will you be. The exception to this is Saturday evening when we try to
make a special effort for our guests and get out our best suits and dresses (or even your kilt if
you are coming down from Scotland).
