¹⁸Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

⁶So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. ⁷For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. ⁸But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

²⁸ Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

¹ Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

¹²So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! ¹³No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. ³¹So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
